EASTERN CIRCUMCISION (Cultural tour – Mbale town)
Mbale Town is in the Eastern part of Uganda about 165 miles near Mount Elgon National Park. It is the administrative capital of Eastern Uganda Region overlooking Wanale Ridge, the long arm of Mount Elgon. The people leaving in this area are Bagisu (Bamasaba) and Sabiny who both of them practice
circumcision. However, Bamasaba conduct only male circumcision ceremonies during the even years to initiate or prepare young men into adult hood.
DAY 1: From Kampala, drive eastwards via Jinja and Iganga townsR. Proceed to Mbale the East African Circumcision capital. En route see Mabira Forest,Nileriver, Papyrus, Sugar cane and tea plantations. Tour Bumutoto Cultural Center, the official Imbalu ground for Bamasaba / visit and watch the Bull fighting field locally called Maolero,(time permiting). Dinner and overnight at Mbale Resort Hotel, Mt. Elgon Hotel, Kayegi Hotel or Similar.
DAY 2: After breakfast interact with local traditional drumming known as Kadodi then physically watch the male circumcision known as Imbalu, this will take you to about 3 court yards known as Lusho (time permiting).Leave the mountaneous area and amazing culture for Mbale town en route, see bananas and coffee plantations on the slopes of the world’s free standing Mountain, Elgon! Dinner and overnight at Mbale Resort Hotel, Mt. Elgon Hotel, Kayegi Hotel or Similar.
DAY 3: After breakfast, tour Sipi Falls near Kapchorwa town and Sisi Falls (Optional) then depart for Kampala with Lunch en route.
