Primate Experience

Day 1

Leave Kigali City and drive north for Ruhengeri town. This journey goes through the beautiful terraced hillsides that characterizes much of Rwanda’s landscapes. Sometimes if the weather is clear, you can view the five peaks of the Virunga volcanoes. Dinner and overnight at Volcanoes Camp, Le Bambou Lodge, Kinigi Guest House or Hotel Muhavura or Similar.

Day 2

After an early breakfast and briefing from the guides, set off for the gorilla tracking in the forest sanctuary. The activity starts at 8.30am. one will have to take with them a lunch box(es), drinking water and all the necessary gear like rain jacket and jungle boots to track the rare Mountain Gorillas, perhaps one of the most exciting wildlife experiences. The time taken to find the gorillas varies according to the movements of these marvelous primates and that may be between 2 – 6 hours. An encounter with an earth shaking 350 pound silver back or a baby gorilla of the 650 left in the world is veryexciting and never forgotten experience supplimented with Park Guides interpreting the flora and fauna and the lifestyle of the Gorillas! Dinner and overnight at Volcanoes Camp, Le Bambou Lodge, Kinigi Guest House or Hotel Muhavura or Similar.

Day 3

After breakfast, Hike to the famous Diane Fossey Research Center habituating, studying and conserving the endangered Mount Gorillas in the country. Return to your accommodation for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4

Early morning departure for NyungweForest , en route see landscapes and terraces. Dinner and overnight at Gusakura Guest House or similar.

Day 5

Get up early morning into the Nyungwe Forest, the largest block of montane forest in East and Central Africa. It is an incredibly rich area of biodiversity too, but the reason for your visit today is the Chimpanzees and other primates like grey checked mangabeys, golden monkeys. Blue monkeys, Angolan colobus, L’hoest monkeys , owl faced monkeys and many others. With 13 species residents here, you report early in the morning to the Park’s offices before heading off to trek chimpanzees. In the after noon, take a nature walk around the park for birds, butterflies and other primates. Overnight Nyungwe Camp.

Day 6

After breakfast, leave the ever green forest for Kigali with a tour of the Genocide, the famous National Museum at Butare, the ancient King’s Palace at Nyanza, or After lunch, proceed to Kigali city, en route view hills with beautiful terraces.

Gorilla Express: 3 Days / 2 Nights

Day 1: From Kigali City, head north for Ruhengeri town and proceed to Kinigi.En route see green hills and terraces. Dinner and overnight at Volcanoes Camp, Le Bambou Lodge, Kinigi Guest House or Hotel Muhavura.

Day 2: Get up early, you will be briefed by professional park rangers about the Gorillas and start tracking in Parc National des Volcans. Tracking the gorillas through the light mountain forest on the slopes of the Virungas is a magical experience. Other primates are habitant too in the same forest and can be seen jumping on trees. If you are lucky, Gorillas can be found and see them for an hour then return by late lunch! However, some gorilla families are more elusive, and tracking can take a full day, especially when it is wet and muddy. Dinner and overnight at Volcanoes Camp, Le Bambou Lodge, Kinigi Guest House or Hotel Muhavura.

Day 3: After breakfast, leave Kinigi area for Kigali and tour the Genocide MemorialCenter. Then be transferred to Kanombe International airport for your onward flight. End of service.

The Best Of Rwanda

Day 1: Depart early for AkageraNational Park for game viewing and bird watching as you enter the park. Overnight Akagera Game Lodge.

Day 2: Spend a full day game viewing and boat trip. During game drive, you will spot elephant, giraffe, hippo, zebra, giraffe, eland and crocodiles. If you are really a lucky visitor, you might also spot lion, leopard and black rhino. Dinner and overnight at Akagera Game Lodge.

Day 3: After breakfast, drive to Mount, the highest among the VirungaMountains. Dinner and over night at a Lodge.

b Start climbing Mount Karisimbi early in the morning. Overnight at a Camp in the mountain.

Day 5: Continue climbing up to the pick of Mount Karisimbi 4607M , then descend later in the afternoon. Overnight at Volcanoes Camp, Le Bambou Lodge, Kinigi Guest House or Hotel Muhavura or Similar.

Day 6: An early morning drive to Kinigi, Volcanoes National Park Offices where you will be briefed before commencing the once in a lifetime experience of tracking the mountain gorillas. Overnight at Volcanoes Camp, Le Bambou Lodge, Kinigi Guest House or Hotel Muhavura or Similar.

Day 7: After breakfast, hike to the famous Dian Fossey Research center and Gorilla grave yard. This is a place where Dr. Dian Fossey spent almost two decades habituating, studying and conserving the endangered Mountain Gorillas. Overnight at Volcanoes Camp, Le Bambou Lodge, Kinigi Guest House or Hotel Muhavura or Similar.

Day 8: Wake up early for NyungweForest National Park. This forest contains a variety of habitants including the montane forest, bamboo, grassland and swamp. Over night at the lodge.

Day 9: Early morning enter the Nyungwe Forest for Chimpanzee trekking expeditions in search of colonies of habituated primates. Other wildlife in the park include grey cheeked mangabeys, blue monkeys, Angolan colobus, L’host and many more. Overnight at Nyungwe Camp.

Day 10: Get up early and enjoy a morning drive along the beautiful Lake Kivu as you head to the picturesque town of Kibuye. Overnight Kibuye.then relax at Serena Kivu Hotel.

Day 11: After breakfast, take a relaxing boat trip to either Napoleon’s (it’s shaped like his hat) Island or Amahoro (peace) Island. Leisure at the beach of Lake Kivu. Overnight at Serena Kivu Hotel.

Day 12: Return to Kigali and be transferred to Kanombe International Airport for your onward flight. End of service
