SAHO 010-Murchison Falls and Kidepo Valley National Park 6 days / 5 nights.
DAY 1: Sasa Holidays’ Driver Guide will pick you up from your Hotel in Kampala then drive to Murchison Falls National Park through the famous Luwero triangle, with a stop at Ziwa Ranchers for Rhino viewing. This Sanctuary is in Nakasongola district between Luwero and Masindi towns. Lunch at Masindi town. Drive to the park passing through the Budongo forest on the western arm of the park which has a variety of primates and one can be rewarded by a variety of them along the road especially the Baboons.
An evening game drive (the weather permitting), wrap up the day is a rewarded experience of sighting Lions, Giraffes, Leopards, Elephants, Buffalos as they search for prey or feed on the grasses, a variety of different bird species like the one along the shores of L. Kyoga like Crested Crane, before you retire to the lodge. Tour the top of the Falls with amazing scenic viewpoints. Dinner and overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge.
DAY 2: After an early cup of coffee transverse in the northern part of the park for a morning game drive. View more of the wild animals and try to make out the different bird species with the help of the guide. After lunch, proceed for a two-hour launch trip up to the bottom of the mighty Murchison falls where appalling water escapes from the narrow gorge, an opportunity to see the amazing hippos, crocodiles, water birds along the river banks. Return to Paraa Safari Lodge for dinner and overnight.
Murchison Falls – Kidepo Valley National Park about 7 hours’ drive.
DAY 3: Depart the famous Murchison Falls National Park for Kidepo Valley National Park to the far North-East where Uganda borders Kenya and South Sudan. You will have an opportunity of viewing some of the Park residents like lions, zebras, elephants, buffalos, kob and birds found close by the camp. Dinner and overnight at Kidepo Savannah Lodge.
DAY 4: After breakfast, take a game drive to the gorgeous Kanangorok hot spring. There you will see several animals plus birds wandering around such as the Ostrich.
Hunting dog, Bat-eared Fox, Cheetah, Striped Hyena, Caracal, the aard Wolf, elephants, oribi, burchell’s zebras, Jackson’s hartebeests, bush pigs, bohor reed buck, warthogs, rothschild giraffes, defassa water bucks, cape buffaloes, elands, bush duskier, bush bucks, lions, side-striped jackals, leopards, black-backed jackals, various small cats as well as spotted hyenas.
In the afternoon you will have a cultural tour to interact with the Karamajong community. On this tour you will personally have a great evening as you watch these people go about their day to day activities and see their cultural practices. At the end of this cultural tour you will be in position to understand why these people are very reluctant to accepting modernity over their traditional practices. Dinner and overnight at Kidepo Savannah Lodge.
DAY 5: Early morning departure for Mbale Town with a stop at Sipi and Sisiyi Falls. Dinner and overnight at Mbale Resort.
DAY 6: After breakfast, Hike to Mount Wanale, Bugisu’s temple of nature and the long arm of Mount Elgon. This is an impressive mountain with escarpments, deep valleys, water streaked cliffs, caves and rocks. It is standing at a height of 6,864 ft, Wanale can be viewed from all areas in Mbale and 3 town literally lies at its foot. While in Mbale town, you can see many waterfalls making Mt. Wanale to be one of the most beautiful mountains in Uganda. In the afternoon, tour coffee / banana gardens grown on the slopes of Mount Elgon. You will have time to visit the Bugisu Cooperative Union plant in Mbale’s Industrial Area.
It’s where farmers comes together to sell their coffee in bulk through cooperatives to eliminate the middle man and makes the farmer able to sell their coffee at the price on the world market. Drive to Kampala via Jinja and proceed to Entebbe International Airport. End of service.
